GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF AMITAYUS

A finely cast gilt bronze figure of the Buddhist diety Amitayus. Incised with the cyclical date 1770. Seated on a plinth in dhyanasana with foliate corners and draped in front with a center medallion. The hands are in the dhyana mudra position. The figure wears a jeweled necklace and robes. Amitayus has an elaborate hair arrangement hidden behind a five-point crown. A separate flame border mandorla attaches behind the figure.
